“Suffocate” by Knocked Loose featuring Poppy

"Suffocate" dropped in April 2024 on Pure Noise, the third single from You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To, the third album from American hardcore band Knocked Loose, and it hands half the mic to Poppy. The team-up happened because she asked: Poppy got in touch with frontman Bryan Garris and said she wanted to work together.

What came out of it is a screaming match in the best sense, Garris and Poppy trading shredded throats over a riff that comes in swinging and a breakdown that lurches, of all things, toward reggaeton. WZRD BLD produced, and Garris wrote it with Isaac Hale, Nicko Calderon, Kevin Kaine and Kevin Otten, with Hale adding backing vocals. They first played it together at Sick New World in Las Vegas that April and took it to Jimmy Kimmel Live! in November. It earned a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance and landed on the WWE 2K25 soundtrack in March 2025.
