“Deeper Well” by Kacey Musgraves

Kacey Musgraves named her sixth studio album after "Deeper Well", and the title song, out alongside the record on March 15, 2024, became one of the four singles sent out to carry it. She wrote and produced it with Ian Fitchuk and Daniel Tashian, and the playing stays within a small circle: Todd Lombardo on guitar and acoustic guitar, Tashian on acoustic guitar and bass, Fitchuk on drums, and her two co-producers adding synthesizer that hangs at the edges like morning haze.

Craig Alvin and Konrad Snyder recorded it, with Phillip Smith assisting, and Shawn Everett mixed it warm and uncluttered. Musgraves sounds settled and unhurried, easing into the melody rather than pushing it, and the song plays more like a deep breath than a victory lap.
