"Angel" comes from Sleep Through the Static, the fourth studio album Jack Johnson put out in February 2008, and it's a Johnson original: he wrote it and sings lead. The album marked a change of scene, the first he made away from Hawaii, cut instead at the Los Angeles Solar Powered Plastic Plant.
JP Plunier, who produced the whole record, produced this one too, and Robert Carranza engineered and mixed it. Critics mostly shrugged at Sleep Through the Static, but the audience stayed loyal: it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.
