"Americanarama" was the lead single from Record in a Bag, the debut album Canadian rockers Hollerado first gave away as a free download in 2009 before Royal Mountain Records and Arts & Crafts reissued it in January 2010. Menno Versteeg sings lead and plays guitar, Nixon Boyd plays guitar too, Dean Baxter is on bass and Jake Boyd on drums, and those three pile on the backing vocals; all four share the writing credit.
It picked up plenty of Canadian radio play, as did the album's other singles, "Juliette" and "Got to Lose", and its video got people talking: Dave Foley of The Kids in the Hall starring in a send-up of American Apparel boss Dov Charney. The record drew favourable comparisons to Supergrass, Stephen Malkmus and Weezer.
