"I Missed Out" comes from Brain Candy, the third album by Australian indie rock duo Hockey Dad, released on 31 July 2020 by Farmer & The Owl. Zach Stephenson and William Fleming wrote it together; Stephenson sings and plays guitar, Fleming drums, and Stephen Bourke is on bass. John Goodmanson produced it and engineered alongside Troy Glessner.
Brain Candy was the record where critics heard the pair growing up: AllMusic's Mark Deming credited its extra overdubs and sharper studio know-how with filling out their sound without draining the spontaneity, and NME's Ali Shutler called it a break from their scrappy beginnings.
