"Baby, I'm Gettin' Better" nearly didn't make Cohesion, the fourth studio album from Australian alternative rockers Gyroscope. Drummer Rob Nassif has explained that it started out sounding like an acoustic country song; the band loved its melodies and chorus but were set on making a rock record, so they meant to leave it off. Producer Gil Norton talked them round and told them to rock it up, and that louder take is the one on the album.
Credited to Nassif, Daniel Sanders, Brad Campbell and Zoran Trivic, it went out as the album's second single in May 2010, climbed to number 34 on the ARIA chart, spent fourteen weeks in the top 50 and went gold by year's end. Sputnik Music's Mike Allen found the track itself fairly plain but reckoned frontman Sanders, with his passionate delivery and some warm harmonies, lifted it.
