“City Looks Pretty” by Courtney Barnett

"City Looks Pretty" comes from Tell Me How You Really Feel, the second album by Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett, which arrived in May 2018 on her own Milk! Records alongside Mom + Pop and Marathon Artists. It's hers top to bottom: Barnett wrote the words and the music, sings it, plays the guitar and shares the production credit with Burke Reid and Dan Luscombe.

The rhythm section is the pair that backs her live, Bones Sloane on bass and Dave Mudie on drums and percussion, and the album was cut with them at Soundpark studios in Melbourne. Reid, back at the controls after her earlier solo record Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit, recorded and mixed the track, and Luscombe, the Drones guitarist, rounds out the team.
