"Runaway Train" was the first single from The Wild Trapeze, the 2010 solo debut by Incubus singer Brandon Boyd, and its video went up online on June 21, a couple of weeks before the album arrived on July 6, on disc and through iTunes. Boyd wrote it with Dave McCracken and sings it, and Dave Fridmann turns up on keyboards.
Boyd pitched the whole album as a guy let loose in a room full of toys: poke at every one to see what it does, and make all the noise you like. As a first move away from the band, it's a mission statement with the brakes off.
