"Prelude/Angry Young Man" comes from Turnstiles, Billy Joel's fourth album, in 1976, and it's Joel showing off exactly what his band could do. He wrote and produced it and took the band into Ultra Sonic Studios out in Hempstead, New York, to record it, working out the arrangement with drummer Liberty DeVitto and bassist Doug Stegmeyer, while Richie Cannata played sax, Russell Javors and Howard Emerson handled guitars and James Mingo Lewis added percussion. Joel is on keyboards and lead vocals.

It never came out as a single, and it never needed to. The fans claimed it anyway and it became a fixture of his shows, turning up on Kohuept, 2000 Years: The Millennium Concert, 12 Gardens Live and Live at Shea Stadium, and in the 2002 Broadway musical Movin' Out.
