"Sunscreen" was one of three singles Ball Park Music sent out ahead of Weirder & Weirder, the Australian indie rockers' seventh album. Sam Cromack wrote it alone, words and music, and recorded it himself, with the band producing and Paul McKercher mixing.
It's an all-hands job: Cromack on electric guitar and drum machine, Dean Hanson on electric guitar, Jennifer Boyce on bass, Daniel Hanson on drums and tambourine, and Paul Furness stacking up piano, organ and synthesizer, with Cromack, Boyce and Dean Hanson all singing. The whole band claps along. The album arrived through Prawn Records in May 2022, climbed to number two on the ARIA Albums Chart and later won Album of the Year at the 2023 Queensland Music Awards.
