"Show Me a Leader" was the song Alter Bridge picked to announce The Last Hero, their fifth album, and it arrives jaw set, alternative metal with something to get off its chest. SiriusXM's Octane gave it a first spin on July 25, 2016, and the download followed the next day, the band's first release through Napalm Records everywhere except the US, where Alter Bridge Recordings put it out via Caroline. Michael Baskette produced, the writing credit belongs to the whole band, and the video went online on August 31.
Singer Myles Kennedy said it channels the frustration so many people felt about the state of the world: a hunger for leaders worth trusting, set against a dog-and-pony show that had made a mockery of the system. He was careful to add that it pushes no agenda, just a disillusionment he saw all around him.
