Sing It All Away by Walk Off the Earth

Sing It All Away, the fourth album from Walk Off the Earth, arrived on Columbia on June 16, 2015, as the follow-up to R.E.V.O. The Burlington, Ontario, band had turned YouTube into its launch pad, notably in 2012 when all five crowded onto a single guitar for a cover of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" that drew more than 175 million views within four months. Gianni "Luminati" Nicassio, the multi-instrumentalist who produces both their records and their videos, keeps the operation homemade.

"Rule the World" led the way, with a John Poliquin-directed video out that March, and the rest aims for bright, crowd-sized pop rock from a band whose kit has always run to ukulele, theremin and looped samples. NPR's Stephen Thompson heard little threads of far-flung genres stitched through it; AllMusic's Marcy Donelson was less sure, finding it by turns distracting or delightful while tipping her hat to the songwriting.
