UGK (Underground Kingz) by UGK

Underground Kingz, UGK's fifth studio album, came out on August 7, 2007, through Pimp C's own UGK Records, Jive and Zomba, a sprawling dose of Port Arthur, Texas, swagger from Pimp C and Bun B. The producer roster is a rap summit, with Lil Jon, Jazze Pha, Swizz Beatz, DJ Paul and Pimp C himself at the boards, and the guest list runs from T.I., Rick Ross and Slim Thug to Big Daddy Kane, Talib Kweli, Too Short, Charlie Wilson and Three 6 Mafia.

The crown jewel is "Int'l Players Anthem (I Choose You)", with Outkast riding a soul-drenched, wedding-bells groove, a hit single that still sounds like a victory lap. "The Game Belongs to Me" was the other single. Critics gave it a warm reception, and it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with 160,000 copies in its first week. It was Pimp C's last performance: he died in Los Angeles on December 4, 2007, four months after it came out.
