Talkback, the third studio album from Burlington, Ontario's Spoons, came out on Ready Records in 1983, the same year the Juno Awards nominated them as Most Promising Group, and it was the first Spoons record with Nile Rodgers producing. You can hear the difference: the band's synth-driven new wave gets a tighter, springier rhythm section and a sheen that makes it all glide.
Canadian radio took to "Old Emotions", "The Rhythm" and the title track, and "Old Emotions" got a video directed by Rob Quartly. Rodgers stayed on for the singles "Tell No Lies" and "Romantic Traffic", recorded after the album came out; both were added when Ready finally issued Talkback on CD in Canada in 2010.
