I Barely Know Her, the debut album from sombr, arrived on August 22, 2025, through Warner Records and his own SMB imprint, just as "Back to Friends" and "Undressed" were breaking him big. He wrote every song himself and produced the record with Tony Berg, splitting the difference between glossy pop and indie rock.
It's an album of heartbreak, longing and self-reflection, set against life in New York City, sung in a yearning croon over guitars that shimmer and swell. "Back to Friends" is the aching centrepiece, and "Undressed", "We Never Dated" and "12 to 12" kept the singles coming. Critics praised the songwriting and the production, even if a few found it leaned on familiar tricks. Either way, "Back to Friends" won him an MTV Video Music Award for Best Alternative Video, and he landed a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.
