Grim Town by Soak
Grim Town is an album by Soak, released in 2019. 1 song from it has charted on rock radio countdowns, with 2 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “Deja Vu”, on 2 lists with a best position of #75.
Grim Town, the second album from Derry singer-songwriter Soak, came out on Rough Trade on 26 April 2019, four years after Bridie Monds-Watson's debut Before We Forgot How to Dream had won the Irish Choice Music Prize for album of the year.
This time the record leans into indie pop, with "Deja Vu" as its bright, restless calling card, and Monds-Watson's voice still carries the soul-and-folk ache their stage name was coined from. Critics were kind: a Metacritic average of 79 across 12 reviews. They would return in 2022 with If I Never Know You Like This Again.
