More Monsters and Sprites by Skrillex

More Monsters and Sprites, Skrillex's third EP, landed on Beatport on June 7, 2011, through Big Beat and mau5trap, before spreading to other stores two weeks later. It was meant to be a full album, until his hotel room in Milan was robbed shortly before he finished it and the plan shrank to an EP. So Sonny Moore, the former From First to Last frontman, doubled down on Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites instead: its title track comes back remixed four times over, by Dirtyphonics, Phonat, the Juggernauts and Kaskade, alongside three new originals.

The new ones are pure dubstep aggression, wobbling bass and mechanical, stop-start breakdowns, with a reggae lilt slipped into the opener. "First of the Year (Equinox)" was the lead single and the biggest of the lot, and its Tony Truand-directed video picked up a Grammy nomination for Best Short Form Music Video.
