Lost Friends, the debut album from Sydney trio Middle Kids, came out on EMI in May 2018, and it's a big-hearted, bruised indie rock record. Hannah Joy sings and plays guitar with a voice that can crack and soar in the same line, multi-instrumentalist Tim Fitz gives the songs their crisp, layered sheen, and Harry Day keeps the drums punchy and bright.
"Mistake" is the standout, a surging anthem that builds to a cathartic release. The album reached number 10 on the ARIA chart and won Australian Album of the Year at the J Awards.
