You're Awful, I Love You, the second full-length album from St. Louis band Ludo, came out on February 26, 2008, as their first release for Island Records, with Matt Wallace producing. The title comes from a line in "Love Me Dead", and it tells you the mood before a note plays: affection and insult in the same breath.
Andrew Volpe's yelping lead vocals ride over Tim Ferrell's guitar while Tim Convy's Moog gives the pop-punk crunch a goofy, theatrical sheen, with Marshall Fanciullo on bass and Matt Palermo on drums, everybody piling in on backing vocals. "Love Me Dead" was the breakout, showing up in a summer 2008 promo for House and climbing to number 8 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart, still the band's most successful song. Broken Bride came before it; Prepare the Preparations followed.
