Prepare the Preparations, the third full-length album from St. Louis band Ludo, finally landed on September 7, 2010, after getting bumped from its original August 17 date. It was their second release on Island Records, and producer Matt Wallace gave their power pop a big, shiny sheen.
Andrew Volpe sings lead and plays guitar, Tim Ferrell adds lead guitar, Tim Convy works the Moog and synths and Matt Palermo drums, with everybody piling in on backing vocals. The songs are hook-mad and a little unhinged, buzzing with synth squiggles and gang-shouted choruses, and "Whipped Cream" is the sugar rush that made the countdowns. The album followed You're Awful, I Love You.
