Metal & Dust, London Grammar's debut EP, came out in 2013 on Metal & Dust Recordings, four years after Hannah Reid, Dan Rothman and Dominic "Dot" Major got together in Nottingham. The title track, written by all three, was the band's first single, issued as a maxi single on 25 February 2013, and it later resurfaced as the eighth song on their debut album, If You Wait.

It's a spare, nocturnal little record. Major's keyboards and drums leave acres of room, and Reid's voice fills the space with a grave, cathedral-sized ache that makes everything around it go quiet. "Hey Now" is the song that found its way onto the countdowns, and later that same year If You Wait would carry the sound all the way to No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart.
