Gold‐Diggers Sound by Leon Bridges
Gold‐Diggers Sound is an album by Leon Bridges, released in 2021. 2 songs from it have charted on rock radio countdowns, with 18 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “Motorbike”, on 13 lists with a best position of #7.
Gold-Diggers Sound, Leon Bridges' third album, came out on Columbia on July 23, 2021, and it's the soul throwback moving all the way into R&B's modern era. Having started out reviving '60s soul, Bridges here puts his own spin on the R&B of the '90s and 2000s, with Robert Glasper, Terrace Martin and INK among the guests.
It's a late-night, low-lit record, silky grooves and hazy keys around that honeyed voice, sensual and a little melancholy. "Motorbike" is the standout, alongside the singles "Sweeter" and "Why Don't You Touch Me", and "Steam" is worth seeking out too. Critics raved, it debuted at number 17 on the Billboard 200, and it picked up a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album.
