American Dream by LCD Soundsystem
American Dream is an album by LCD Soundsystem, released in 2017. 4 songs from it have charted on rock radio countdowns, with 20 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “Call The Police”, on 11 lists with a best position of #10.
American Dream, LCD Soundsystem's fifth studio album, came out on DFA and Columbia on September 1, 2017, the first new record from James Murphy's crew in seven years. The band had called it quits after a farewell blowout at Madison Square Garden in 2011, and the album was announced on January 5, 2016, a day after word got out that they were reuniting. Murphy produced it himself.
What it sounds like is dance-punk with more grey in its beard: long, pulsing grooves, synths that shimmer and sour, and a mood more wistful than wild. "Call the Police" and the title track arrived together as the first single, "Tonite" followed, and "Oh Baby" came later. It became their first album to top the Billboard 200, and "Tonite" won the Grammy for Best Dance Recording.
