In Waves by Jamie xx

In Waves, Jamie xx's second studio album, arrived through Young on 20 September 2024, a full nine years after In Colour, the record that got him a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album. He produced it himself, and it plays like a DJ throwing open the doors of a club he has been building in his head for years: house and electronic music that swings between peak-time rush and after-hours glow.

The guest list does a lot of the talking. His bandmates from the xx, Romy and Oliver Sim, drop in, and so do Honey Dijon, Kelsey Lu, John Glacier, Panda Bear, Robyn, the Avalanches and Oona Doherty. Two singles paved the way, "Baddy on the Floor" with Honey Dijon and "Treat Each Other Right", and a collaboration with Erykah Badu turned up on the deluxe vinyl before making its way onto streaming services.
