1981 Extended Play, the debut EP from iDKHOW, came out on Fearless Records on November 9, 2018, after one of the odder build-ups in recent memory: singer-songwriter Dallon Weekes and drummer Ryan Seaman, who'd played together in Weekes' earlier project the Brobecks, formed the Salt Lake City duo in secret and flatly denied it existed. By March 2018 Rock Sound was calling them the hottest unsigned band in the world on its cover, and Fearless signed them soon after.

Weekes produced it, and it's a retro rush of new wave gloss and indie-pop hooks over alternative-rock muscle. "Choke" had been out since October 2017, "Do It All the Time" and "Bleed Magic" followed, and on physical copies "Choke" ends with a sample from Lonely Water, a 1973 British public information film.
