Why Make Sense? by Hot Chip
Why Make Sense? is an album by Hot Chip, released in 2015. 1 song from it has charted on rock radio countdowns, with 3 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “Huarache Lights”, on 3 lists with a best position of #26.
Why Make Sense?, Hot Chip's sixth album, arrived on Domino on 18 May 2015, and it finds the London synth-pop lifers still chasing the perfect union of heart and hi-hat. Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard, who started the band as a bedroom project, trade the lead vocals as ever, with Al Doyle, Owen Clarke and Felix Martin filling out the machine room. They co-produced with Mark Ralph, again largely at his Club Ralph studio in London, as on In Our Heads, with extra sessions at Angelic Studios in Northamptonshire.
The tug between house, disco and wistful pop is the whole point: "Huarache Lights" struts on a clipped groove, and "Need You Now" and "Started Right" followed it out as singles. Even the sleeve is a flex, a moiré of crossing lines over a colored backdrop, printed in 130,000 different variations across the vinyl and CD runs.
