Scumdogs of the Universe by GWAR

Scumdogs of the Universe, GWAR's second album and their first for Metal Blade, hit on January 8, 1990, and it's still the Richmond, Virginia gore-mongers' best-selling record. Al Jourgensen is credited as producer, and the music is a snotty crossover-thrash stampede with a comedy streak a mile wide, the soundtrack to a science-fiction saga that casts the band as barbaric interplanetary warriors: Oderus Urungus, BalSac the Jaws of Death, Beefcake the Mighty, Flattus Maximus and Jizmak da Gusha, all in grotesque costume.

Under the costumes and the fake blood there's real satire, and the stage shows, which leave the front rows drenched, stirred up the controversy that carried the band onto MTV and daytime talk shows in the early '90s. "Sick of You" is the track that turned up on the countdowns. For the album's 30th anniversary in 2020, Ronan Chris Murphy remixed and remastered it for a deluxe box set.
