Gorky 5 is the fifth album from Welsh oddballs Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, out on 27 August 1998, and it was their last for Mercury Records. The Carmarthen band, who sang in both Welsh and English and rode the Cool Cymru wave, produced it themselves, and it sounds like it: homespun psychedelic folk full of wobbly melodies, sawing violin and a sweetness that never quite hides the weirdness underneath.
The lineup was Euros Childs, Megan Childs on violin, John Lawrence on guitar, Richard James on bass and Euros Rowlands on drums. "Let's Get Together (In Our Minds)" and "Sweet Johnny" were the singles, and "Hush The Warmth" is another of its gentler charms. It came after Barafundle, and Spanish Dance Troupe followed.
