When Legends Rise by Godsmack
When Legends Rise is an album by Godsmack, released in 2018. 4 songs from it have charted on rock radio countdowns, with 20 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “Bulletproof”, on 7 lists and voted number one once.
When Legends Rise, Godsmack's eighth studio album and the follow-up to 1000hp, landed on April 27, 2018, through BMG, and it's the sound of a metal band deliberately easing off the throttle. Sully Erna co-produced with Erik Ron, and together they steered the Lawrence, Massachusetts crew away from heavy metal toward cleaner, bigger hard rock: choruses built for arenas, riffs that punch instead of pummel.
Erna still leads on vocals and guitar, with Robbie Merrill on bass, Tony Rombola on guitar and Shannon Larkin behind the kit. "Bulletproof" went out first, in February 2018, and the gamble paid off handsomely: all four singles went to number one on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart, and the album went gold in 2021.
