Hang by Foxygen
Hang is an album by Foxygen, released in 2017. 1 song from it has charted on rock radio countdowns, with 6 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “Follow the Leader”, on 6 lists with a best position of #31.
Hang, Foxygen's fifth album, arrived on Jagjaguwar in January 2017, and it's the California duo of singer Sam France and multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Rado going big: a grand, lavish, high-concept production and a sharp turn away from ...And Star Power. Rado and France had been making music together since they were fourteen, and here they sound like two kids who finally got a real budget and couldn't stop grinning.
The critics mostly went along for the ride. Pitchfork's review cheered the change of direction and heard a record that pokes fun at its own pomp even as it piles it on, while NME praised its crisp, smooth, sumptuous surface and warned that the band was as much a force for chaos as ever. "Follow the Leader" is the song from it that rock radio took up.
