Ruins by First Aid Kit
Ruins is an album by First Aid Kit, released in 2018. 3 songs from it have charted on rock radio countdowns, with 25 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “It's a Shame”, on 12 lists with a best position of #16.
Ruins, the fourth album from Swedish sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg, better known as First Aid Kit, arrived on Columbia on 19 January 2018. They made it with producer Tucker Martine and some well-chosen friends: Peter Buck of R.E.M., Glenn Kotche of Wilco and McKenzie Smith of Midlake all turn up in the credits.
That crew gives the duo's folk a looser, rangier feel than before, with the sisters' twined harmonies still dead centre and the band arrangements swaying around them. "It's a Shame" led the way as the first single in September 2017, and "Fireworks" and "Rebel Heart" followed it into the countdowns. It's a heartsore, beautifully sung record that picks up where Stay Gold left off.
