Fuse by Everything But The Girl

Fuse, Everything but the Girl's 11th album, arrived on 21 April 2023 through Buzzin' Fly and Virgin, nearly 24 years after Temperamental. The Hull duo had gone quiet in 2000; Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt married in 2009, made solo records and said a return was unlikely, then in November 2022 announced they had finished a new album.

It picks up the electronic thread they had followed since Todd Terry's remix of "Missing" turned them around: downtempo beats and late-night R&B shading, Watt's production spare and humming, Thorn's low, unhurried voice right at the center. "Nothing Left to Lose" went out first, in January, followed by "Caution to the Wind", "Run a Red Light" and "No One Knows We're Dancing". It reached number 3 in the UK, the highest chart placing of their career, and The Guardian gave it five stars.
