Neptune by Duke Spirit

Neptune, the Duke Spirit's second album, came out on 4 February 2008 with Chris Goss producing, and it's a dark, heavy swirl from the London band, whose sound draws on the haze of the Jesus and Mary Chain and Spiritualized, the rattle of the Gun Club and the Patti Smith Group, and a pulse of old Atlantic soul and Motown. Liela Moss sings like she's summoning something out of the fog, Olly Betts keeps the drums rolling, and "The Step and the Walk" struts with real menace.

It was the last album with original lead guitarist Dan Higgins. Its songs found a second audience through video games: "Lassoo" was used in Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits, and "Send a Little Love Token" made the main set list of Guitar Hero 5 and turned up in Forza Motorsport 3.
