Our Pathetic Age by DJ Shadow
Our Pathetic Age is an album by DJ Shadow, released in 2019. 1 song from it has charted on rock radio countdowns, with 7 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “Rocket Fuel”, on 7 lists with a best position of #9.
Our Pathetic Age, DJ Shadow's sixth studio album, came out on Mass Appeal on November 15, 2019, the follow-up to The Mountain Will Fall and more than two decades on from his 1996 debut. Josh Davis still builds tracks the way he always has, stacking samples into dense, restless collages, but this time he throws the studio door open to a crowd of guests.
The rap side is loaded: Run the Jewels, Nas, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon all turn up, and the single "Rocket Fuel" hands the mic to De La Soul, who sound like they're having a blast over a beat that bounces and bumps. "Rosie" was the other single. It's a hip-hop record first and foremost, with Davis playing host and ringmaster, letting the voices carry the weight while his collage work hums and crackles underneath.
