Puddinghead, the third album from Brisbane indie pop five-piece Ball Park Music, came out on 4 April 2014 through Stop Start and Inertia Music, two years after Museum had debuted at number nine on the ARIA charts. It's a record that serves up sweetness and sourness in the same spoonful, and the song titles do half the talking: "Everything Is Shit Except My Friendship with You" is about as Ball Park Music as a title gets.
Lead single "She Only Loves Me When I'm There", which later went platinum, and "Trippin' the Light Fantastic" carried it, along with two national tours and a run through Europe. It paid off. The album peaked at number two on the ARIA Albums Chart, the ARIA Awards shortlisted it for Best Rock Album, and the J Awards put it up for Australian Album of the Year. On their next outing, Every Night the Same Dream, they would wander off into psychedelia.
