Ball Park Music by Ball Park Music
Ball Park Music is an album by Ball Park Music, released in 2020. 2 songs from it have charted on rock radio countdowns, with 2 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “Cherub”, on 1 list with a best position of #4.
Ball Park Music, the Brisbane band's sixth studio album and the one that bears their own name, came out on 23 October 2020 through Prawn Records and Inertia. They wrote and recorded it at home in Brisbane while the 2019–20 bushfire season burned across Australia, and though it's a bright, hooky indie rock record, you can feel the unease under the sunshine.
"Spark Up!", "Day & Age" and "Cherub" were the singles, and "Cherub" is the keeper: a fuzzy, big-hearted singalong with a grin on its face. The album debuted at number 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart, won Australian Album of the Year at the 2020 J Awards, and picked up nominations for Best Independent Release and Best Rock Album at the 2021 ARIA Awards.
