A Book Like This, the first album from sibling duo Angus & Julia Stone, came out in Australia in September 2007, only a year after the pair formed, and went straight in at number 6 on the ARIA chart. They produced it themselves with a hand from Fran Healy, and it's indie folk at its most hushed and intimate: brushed acoustic guitars, two quiet voices trading confessions, nothing hurried. "Wasted" and "The Beast" are the songs rock radio caught.
The record took its time crossing the oceans, reaching the UK through PIAS on 31 March 2008 and North America in an alternative version through Nettwerk on 3 March 2009, when they played songs from it on KCRW. At home it picked up 4 ARIA nominations in 2008, Breakthrough Artist and Best Blues and Roots Album among them. Down the Way followed in 2010.
