About KNAC
KNAC was Los Angeles' "Pure Rock" hard rock and heavy metal station from 1986 until 1995, and it was reborn online as KNAC.com in 1998. Its Top 105 Songs of 2002 is archived on RockLists.
KNAC 105.5 FM in Long Beach became a hard rock and heavy metal station in 1986, adopting the "Pure Rock" slogan and serving as the radio home of the Sunset Strip metal scene. The FM station signed off in February 1995 when the frequency was sold and flipped to a Spanish-language format.
KNAC returned as an internet radio station in 1998 and continued to program hard rock and metal online. The Top 105 Songs of 2002 preserved here comes from that online era and reflects the harder edge of rock at the time.
