About ALT 98.7
KYSR (98.7 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Los Angeles, California and owned by iHeartMedia. It had aired hot/modern adult contemporary as "Star 98.7" since 1992, then repositioned as "98-7 FM" on September 20, 2007, leaning increasingly toward alternative/modern rock before officially changing its reported format from Modern AC to Alternative in 2008 to compete with KROQ. It rebranded "ALT 98-7" on August 9, 2013, with no format change, and is now flagship station of The Woody Show.
