Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings took on Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land" for Naturally, their 2005 album, reaching back to one of the most famous folk songs America has. Guthrie wrote the words in 1940, fed up with hearing Kate Smith sing Irving Berlin's "God Bless America" on the radio, and meant them as a rebuttal; he first called it "God Blessed America for Me", and he borrowed the melody from a Carter Family tune.
The band's version was recorded and mixed by Bosco Mann, with Tomás Biosh assisting on the mix and Sugarman & Roth as executive producers.
