"The Fall" was one of two singles, along with "Open", that Rhye put out ahead of Woman, the Canadian/Danish R&B duo's 2013 debut album. The pair arranged, produced and engineered it themselves and mixed it with Mads Oustrup, while Bjørn Gjessing did the recording. Around them, August Rosenbaum plays piano, Andreas Halberg bass and Todd Simon trumpet, and Itai Shapira is credited as a player too.
Woman got a warm welcome from critics, many of whom heard Sade in its sound, and it made the longlist for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize.
