“The Void” by Parkway Drive

"The Void" landed on 4 May 2018 as part of Reverence, the sixth studio album from Australian metalcore crew Parkway Drive, the record that wore a restored Rubens, The Fall of the Damned, on its cover. Critics heard that album swinging toward a more melodic, open-armed brand of heavy metal, with clean vocals pushed further forward and lyrics wrestling with religion and death, and George Hadji-Christou produced the whole thing.

Here Hadji-Christou also plays strings, joined by Yolanda Bruno on violin and Greg Weeks on cello, which frames the track in something darker and grander. Jeff Ling and Luke Kilpatrick handle the guitars, Jia O'Connor plays bass, Ben Gordon drums and Chady Awad adds background vocals. Winston McCall wrote it with Ling, Kilpatrick and Gordon; Dean Hadjichristou engineered, Ryan Enockson assisted and Josh Wilbur mixed.
