"Relatively Easy" lives on Southeastern, the fourth album Jason Isbell released in June 2013, a record he made after a stint in rehab and one he said he wanted to remember every minute of this time around. His friend and touring partner Ryan Adams was first lined up to produce; Dave Cobb got the job instead, and he adds percussion here too.
Isbell wrote the song on his own, sings lead and plays guitar, with Kim Richey lending her voice, Derry deBorja on keyboards and mellotron, Brian Allen on bass and Chad Gamble on drums. Mark Petaccia engineered and mixed it. The album drew wide critical acclaim, and in 2020 Rolling Stone slotted it at 458 on its list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
