“Walk Awhile” by Fairport Convention

"Walk Awhile" is a Dave Swarbrick and Richard Thompson song from Full House, Fairport Convention's 1970 album, made by a band in the middle of a reshuffle. Sandy Denny had gone off to form Fotheringay, which made this the first Fairport record with no woman singing, founder Ashley Hutchings had decamped to Steeleye Span, and Dave Pegg had stepped in on bass. Thompson himself would be gone early the next year, off to go solo.

Joe Boyd produced it and John Wood engineered. Like Liege & Lief before it, Full House dug deep into traditional folk tunes, stitching many of them into the medleys "Dirty Linen" and "Flatback Caper".
