Make It Big by Wham!
Make It Big is an album by Wham!, released in 1984. 3 songs from it have charted on rock radio countdowns, with 9 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go”, on 4 lists with a best position of #7.
Make It Big, Wham!'s second album, came out on Epic in 1984, and the title turned out to be a promise kept. This time George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley took the wheel in the studio, with Michael credited as producer, and they swapped the dole-queue grievances of their debut Fantastic for bright, sugar-rush pop with a funk and soul spine.
"Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" bounced in first, its video putting the pair in 'Choose Life' shirts, and the hits kept coming: four singles, every one of them top three in Britain and America. "Careless Whisper" went out in some countries under Michael's name alone, a hint of the solo career ahead, and the "Freedom" video caught them onstage in China, where Wham! became the first Western pop act to tour. The album went to number one on both sides of the Atlantic and has since gone six times platinum in the US.
