Mahal, the seventh studio album from Chaz Bear, the musician who records as Toro y Moi, came out on April 29, 2022, his first for Dead Oceans. The title is a Tagalog word that can mean "love" or "expensive", and the record lives in that double meaning: warm, woozy, a little decadent, a long way from the hazy chillwave he helped pioneer. "Postman" is the calling card, a loose, rubbery groove with a wry, sunny kick.
