After Hours by The Weeknd
After Hours is an album by The Weeknd, released in 2020. 2 songs from it have charted on rock radio countdowns, with 5 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “Blinding Lights”, on 4 lists with a best position of #71.
After Hours, the Weeknd's fourth album, dropped on XO and Republic on March 20, 2020, and it's Abel Tesfaye swerving hard away from Starboy, trading slick pop-R&B for a neon-lit night drive through new wave and dream pop. He steered most of the production himself with familiar hands like Max Martin, Metro Boomin, OPN, DaHeala and Illangelo, and kept the standard edition free of guests. The title borrows from the 1985 film, and the songs wander through loneliness, self-loathing and the urge to escape.
"Heartless" and "Blinding Lights" both went to number one on the Hot 100, and "Blinding Lights", all synth rush and pounding drums, became the best-performing song in that chart's history; "Save Your Tears" got there too in a remix with Ariana Grande. The album opened with 444,000 units for the Weeknd's fourth US number one and kicked off a trilogy finished by Dawn FM and Hurry Up Tomorrow.
