I Don't Live Here Anymore, the fifth War on Drugs album, came out on Atlantic on October 29, 2021, and it's Adam Granduciel's Philadelphia outfit going for the big open road with the top down. Granduciel produced it with Shawn Everett, and the band behind him, Dave Hartley on bass, Robbie Bennett on keys, Charlie Hall on drums, Jon Natchez on sax and keys, Anthony LaMarca on guitar, fills every corner with shimmer.
It follows the Grammy-winning A Deeper Understanding and sounds even more confident: glistening synths, chiming guitars, and choruses that rise like headlights coming over a hill. The title track is a heart-on-sleeve singalong, "Change" rolls along on a restless pulse, and "Harmonia's Dream" earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Song. The album itself drew widespread acclaim.
