Lies for the Liars by The Used

Lies for the Liars, the Used's third studio album, landed on Reprise on May 22, 2007, after a messy shake-up in the Orem, Utah band's engine room. Drummer Branden Steineckert was out in September 2006, and he said plainly he'd been pushed, not jumped. Good Charlotte's Dean Butterworth ended up playing the drums on the record, and Dan Whitesides was named the permanent replacement in January 2007. They wrote about 40 songs and cut 19, and John Feldmann produced, keeping the hooks sharp and the mix punchy while Bert McCracken sings like every feeling is a five-alarm fire.

"The Bird and the Worm" went to radio in April and became the one that stuck, with "Pretty Handsome Awkward" close behind. The B-sides surfaced on the Shallow Believer EP in February 2008, and the album itself finally went gold in 2019.
