Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace by The Offspring
Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace is an album by The Offspring, released in 2008. 4 songs from it have charted on rock radio countdowns, with 77 countdown appearances in total. The biggest is “You're Gonna Go Far, Kid”, on 44 lists and voted number one once.
Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, the Offspring's eighth album, landed on Columbia in 2008, five long years after Splinter and the widest gap between records the band had ever let open. They'd been kicking songs around since the fall of 2004, but nothing much seemed to happen until November 2006, when they announced they were in the studio with Bob Rock. It took three studios and until April 2008 to finish the job.
Dexter Holland, Kevin Wasserman, Greg K. Kriesel and new drummer Pete Parada made the wait count. "Hammerhead" comes out swinging with the old California punk snarl, while "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" is a sneering, hook-loaded stomp that sat on top of the Billboard rock charts for eleven weeks and went platinum, the song that turned the whole album into a comeback. "Kristy, Are You Doing Okay?" and "Half-Truism" rounded out the singles.
